Why LDL Cholesterol is a Problem

According to the CDC, an adult dies from a heart attack, stroke, or related disease every 39 seconds. These conditions claim the lives of more than 800,000 adults each year, and 150,000 of them are younger than age 65. The conditions are largely preventable, and can be attributed in part to elevated levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) cholesterol, which make up the majority of the body's cholesterol. LDL is known as "bad" cholesterol because having high levels can lead to a buildup in the arteries and result in heart disease. The CDC estimates that 71 million U.S. adults have high LDL cholesterol, and two thirds of those adults don't have the condition under control. People with high cholesterol also have approximately twice the risk of heart disease as people with optimal levels. Since there are no symptoms of high cholesterol, many people have never had their cholesterol checked and subsequently don't know they're at risk. The good news is that there are steps you can take to prevent high cholesterol—or to reduce your levels if they are high.

How SyNRG with CardioAid® Can Help

Phytosterols (vegetable sterols) are substances that naturally occur in small amounts in many fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Sterols have been shown to aid in lowering cholesterol absorption in the small intestine's surface. Sterols are able to do this because they are structurally similar to cholesterol, so when they travel through your digestive tract, they get in the way of bad cholesterol. Instead of clogging up your arteries, the bad cholesterol just exits the body instead of being absorbed.

It has been shown that as little as 1 to 2 grams of plant sterols per day generally produces a significant decrease (up to 24%) in serum LDL (bad cholesterol) levels, and improves total blood cholesterol profiles proportionately. Serum LDL cholesterol levels are widely recognized as having an impact on heart disease risk.

A main ingredient of SyNRG is CardioAid®, which is a plant sterol that has been shown in human clinical studies to block cholesterol absorption in the body and to help lower cholesterol naturally. When taken twice daily with meals, SyNRG contains the recommended 800 mg of CardioAid® plant sterols that, when combined with a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.
